ACT creates more testing dates this Fall, delays section retesting

To offset testing center closures this Spring and Summer, ACT has added multiple new testing dates to the calendar this Fall – creating a total of 8 opportunities between September and December for students to test.

“Our commitment to providing students with safe opportunities to demonstrate what they know is a matter of mission for ACT,” said ACT CEO Janet Godwin. "Adding test dates reflects our commitment to addressing equity and access to testing, especially as so many have experienced disruption to living and learning during the pandemic.”

The updated fall 2020 ACT national test schedule is as follows – registration begins the last week in July.

  • Saturday, September 12
  • Sunday, September 13
  • Saturday, September 19
  • Saturday, October 10
  • Saturday, October 17
  • Saturday, October 24
  • Sunday, October 25
  • Saturday, December 12

While additional testing dates are welcome news, due to COVID-19-related capacity restrictions and to allow first-time test-takers as many opportunities as possible to earn full ACT test scores, ACT has postponed its planned rollout of section retesting and online testing until 2021.

The good news: Starting in September 2020, ACT will offer students who have taken the ACT test more than once the option to report a superscore – and that news, combined with so many available test dates, means Fall 2020 remains an excellent time to test.
