Nicolas Viveros

Tutor

Nicolas earned a bachelor of science in biology from Tufts University and master’s in teaching from USC Rossier School of Education. After completing his undergraduate studies, he volunteered with AmeriCorps to advance the field of environmental restoration. While he enjoyed helping improve the urban ecosystem, he really fell in love with teaching as a volunteer literacy coach. He brings more than a decade of experience teaching math and reading to students of all ages and backgrounds. He enjoys equipping students with the tools to tackle challenging problems they previously wouldn’t have dared to attempt. His reason for teaching is facilitating those transformative moments when his students realize that they can do it.

As a mentor and tutor, Nicolas focuses on guiding his students to become confident, independent, life-long learners. In particular he helps them develop the critical literacy skills of comprehension, problem-solving, and critical thinking, which are crucial for success in school, career, and daily life. In his free time, Nicolas enjoys being in nature, learning new languages, and playing tennis.
